Grn Click Beetle - Chalcolepidius lenzi

Size: 50mm

1st of 2 images. This huge fellow was 50mm (I measured it). Thought about taking it home and putting a leash on it. Could it be a species of Chalcolepidius?? Would really like some ID input. Thanks. I brightened the original images, but this is the true color.

Chalcolepidius, yes

I suggest C. smaragdinus, which occurs in Arizona.

Hello Mike

Thanks for the input. I looked at the one posted on bugguide from 1987 (too bad he didn't include size), but mine has striations that run the length of the elytra. Perhaps because of the angle the pic was taken of the 1987 specimen, the striations don't show??

and at the specimen that I finally caught- they look different, don't they? Maybe it's because yours is a female...

they do, especially the antennae. Could they be the same sp but different gender and have antennae that distinctly different?

This one is clearly C. lenzi

dark, not metallic bright blue antennae and legs, very sinous lines of the pronotum
