Grateful Dead Spider - Araneus cingulatus - female

Grateful Dead Spider - Araneus cingulatus - Female
Granby, Hartford County, Connecticut, USA
August 3, 2008
Size: Approximately 3/8"
I found this little lady in my gas grill on Sunday, August 3rd, 2008. I found the markings on it to be extremely impressive.

I live in northern Connecticut about 8 miles from Granville, Mass. I've learned this is an orb weaver from the Araneae family. I would appreciate any help in identifying this spider.

Looks rather like this one
identified as a female Araneus cingulatus

I'm definitely not a spider expert, though.

Hannah - I think you got it. I've checked other photos (now that you've given me a good place to start). It looks like you're right. Thanks!

If it's the correct ID
it's a nice find - this image (preferably cropped closer) will make a good addition to our guide. However, I'd wait for a second opinion from one of our spider experts. : )
