9172 - Bagisara buxea
It might well have found the secret of aphid honey dew. The straw-like proboscis is extented, prepared for ingesting fluid. They are not carnivorous.

I see this photo has been IDed as Bagisara rectifascia at MPG. Dennis Profant identified another BugGuide photo as B. repanda here.

I'm having trouble distinguishing repanda from rectifascia, both of which are listed at John Heppner's Lepidoptera of Florida. It would be good to have descriptive ID info for these species added to the genus page for future reference.

Other images of repanda: Pierre Zagatti, Matthew Barnes, James Adams
Other images of rectifascia: James Adams, All-Leps, CBIF

Thanks!
