The (Pink) Spotted Lady Beetle. Dark brown base color, dark warty tubercles with short stiff setae, and a distinctive orange pattern, especially the circles on the first thoracic segment.

Lady beetle larva eats horse fly eggs.
The black mass is an egg mass laid by a female horse fly. Boy, another reason to love lady beetles:-)
