Large Beetle - Zopherus nodulosus

Large Beetle - Zopherus nodulosus
Spicewood, Travis County, Texas, USA
May 20, 2005
Size: close to 2" long
Found on the porch of a friend's house, outside of Austin. When touched, it pulled its legs in and played dead. After being ignored for at least 15 minutes, I noticed it was still keeping up the charade.

Super cool
I came across this little beauty on my porch in northern New York last year. I love this one, but I'm always afraid to handle any bug because I never know if it will sting or bite or pinch me!

This bug is restricted to Texas...
Not sure what you found in NY...

Moved
Moved from Zopherus.
