Giant Robber Flies (Promachus)?? - Promachus rufipes

Giant Robber Flies (Promachus)?? - Promachus rufipes
Richmond, Chesterfield County, Virginia, USA
August 11, 2008
Size: Body over 1inch
If a robber fly lands on you should you leave it or get it off? I saw that if handled roughly they may bite. I'm not interested in having a robber fly bite me. It seemed very interested in me until it landed on my wrist and I shook it off. It's still around but not coming by me.

I agree.
I agree with the genus ID. To the fly, you were a place to perch with a good view of potential prey flying by:-)
