Family Anthomyiidae
Hello Kaitlyn,
This fly belongs in the family Anthomyiidae. Were we in Europe, I would say this is Anthomyia pluvialis, but I don't know whether this species occurs in the Nearctic.
Greetings,
Gerard Pennards

Thanks
I'm fairly sure Anthomyia pluvialus lives here-- it lives in Canada anyway, and there's a record of it on the University of Missouri site My fly definitely looks similar to pictures of that species. Thanks for your help!
