Very good photos!
This caught my eye because the flower itself looks like it is an animal of some kind. There are some flowers that are considered wasp and bee mimics...

I would have guess this to be some sort of Syrphid hoverfly.

A similar fly

Interesting comparison!
They do have a lot of similarities and are not as different from syrphids as I had thought. I had expected more difference in the antennas, and darker overall color, but I see that is not always the case. I will be interested to see what others have to say.
