yellow caterpillar with bristles - Halysidota tessellaris

yellow caterpillar with bristles - Halysidota tessellaris
Brossard, Quebec, Canada
August 12, 2008
Size: 1 inch
This time head on, showing the longer black bristles emerging from a collar, and the red face. It moved remarkably quickly once it got going. I would appreciate any suggestions about its identity, thanks.

Tussock
Looks like a tussock of some kind, probably Sycamore. What was it climbing on when you photographed it?

Thanks
It was crawling along a wooden bench underneath a maple tree (I think a Norway maple). Does that help?
