New York bee killer - Diogmites basalis
Jay, Essex County, New York, USA
August 13, 2008
Size: huge
From the size and the way it was flying, I at first thought it was a dragonfly. In flight it looks reddish.

robber
how about Diogmites basalis

Might have been pursuing a dragonfly
It looks like a robber fly.

Robber Fly

Definitely a robber. And a dragon slayer.
