Bumblebee - Bombus mixtus - male

Bumblebee - Bombus mixtus - Male
Elkton, Douglas County, Oregon, USA
August 2, 2008
Size: approx. 1/2 to 5/8 inch
Found on blackberry runner, warming up - sun came out about 15 minutes later. Saw two of these on this day. Not seen before or since.

All tricolored bees I've seen (only in pictures) don't have the red/orange hairs located this far back, or this sparse. Has same colored hairs on back of legs.
