Nice fly
I thought this was a narcissus bulb fly, but couldn't find any here with patterned wings. While I don't think this example is a match, maybe it'll point you to a genus to explore. Good luck, David.

Yeah, I really Dug Those Wings
I've Already Looked at ALL BG Syrphid Pages & Some Beyond
Possible genera:
Mallota
Eristalis flavipes
Merodon
Criorhina
Hadromyia
....

Boy, you've been around the block on this one.
If forced to guess, I'd say Mallota. It certainly looks like a syrphid to me, but I can't make out the spurious(?) wing vein. It certainly doesn't look like a bee fly, and I'm dry on ideas at this point. Wish I could have helped more on both this and the tachinid.

Thanks Ron
This wouldn't be as fun or useful if people were just submitting stuff we already knew.

Flies rule.

My pleasure
It was both fun and enjoyable working together on your two flies. I'm sure there will be more.
