Chalcolepidius smaragdinus, a
Chalcolepidius smaragdinus, a real beauty. The pictures rarely catch green right. The ones I have are much brighter green.

I was after one at exactly the same place last year
never got close enough to even see that it wasn't a buprestid, but saw that it was flying somehow differently. This time I got out of my car, it flew at my dog and then at me, then landed on my windshield. Good luck!
