Size: Perhaps 2.5cm max
Extremely bee-like in behavior and sound. Very short wings for the body length....haven't seen one of these before.

Trichiotinus assimilis
This is the first year I have enountered this species in North Dakota, Trichiotinus assimilis. I've put some information up along with my photo. Very interesting species for the northern midwest

 
Bee Mimic Beetle in Minnesota
I just found one of these beetles in Minneapolis, MN. Thank goodness for the internet so I could find out what this odd little creature is named. :)
