My husband was cleaning out his tomato plants and came across this questionable bug so of course me being obsessed with bugs ran out examined it and took pictures. The bug looked like it had wings but it almost looked like a coating over them and over the whole body as you can see in the photo. It was wiggling but thats all the movement it could make. If somebody could identify this bug or whatever it is, I would love to know what it is.

one of those Tomatoe Hornworm
one of those Tomatoe Hornworm moths........also known as the Sphynx moths.........
Would love to see what it hatches out to look like! Most specimins are very beautiful in their patterns.

sphinx moth
It's the pupae of a sphinx moth. The chrysalis should hatch soon, so if you keep it in a jar or something and submit a picture of the adult moth, we could identify it for you.
