Unknown Possible Wasp type - Bittacomorpha clavipes

Unknown Possible Wasp type - Bittacomorpha clavipes
Grantsburg, Burnett County, Wisconsin, USA
August 19, 2008
Size: body 1.5 - 2 inches long
First, my apologies for quality. Camera would not auto focus on this pair so I had to do it manually.

I have seen these a few times in my life. The pair was mating. Female seemed much larger. Male seemed to have little hooks to hold onto female.

Any Ideas what these two are?
