Fuzzy White/Cream Caterpillar - Tiger Moth? - Lagoa crispata

Fuzzy White/Cream Caterpillar - Tiger Moth? - Lagoa crispata
Howard City, Montcalm County, Michigan, USA
August 20, 2008
Size: 1 inch
My children found this on the East side concrete porch step in the shade at 3:00PM. It is about an inch in length with 1/4 - 1/2 inch long frizzy/curly hairs. It is completely cream colored, body and fuzz. It packs a nasty bite to the finger when picked up! What is this thing? What does it eat? Is it a Tiger Moth?
