I'm wondering
if this isn't some type of bee fly. The body shape is similar to Lepidophora. I don't think that's what it is but it may be something close.

The humpback shape looks to me like a bee fly in the genus Geron. The size is about right too, for the ones that I have found. Check out http://bugguide.net/node/view/9861
