Phoebis philea - male

Phoebis philea - Male
Tierra Grande, se. Valencia County, New Mexico, USA
August 13, 2008
I wasn't expecting to see one of these - definitely not common here. Thought it was a female P. sennae at first glance then noticed it wasn't "acting right" and took a closer look. Just the fact that it let me close would be a bit "off" for P. sennae. It was quite fresh, except that it seems to have had close encounter with a bird.
