unkown bee/moth??? - Hemaris diffinis

I haven't a clue!!!! I am not knowledgeable about insects. This one "hovered" like a humming bird. It made a loud buzzing noise when agrivated. The butt area was very fuzzy and fanned out like a bird tail. The wings were very transparent with light brown lined that formed elongated cell shapes. Help - they are flying in my moms flowers and driving us nuts because we haven't a clue what they are.

Its a Clearwing Moth -
Genus Hemaris , probably H. diffinis, the Snowberry Clearwing.
Oh, and welcome to bugguide!

Thank you
Thanks for letting me know so quickly. Insects have always facinated me but this little guy was driving me nuts! I just couldn't get a handle on whether it was a bee or a moth. Don't you just love the tounge - lol.
