Small Beetle - Plateros

Small Beetle - Plateros
Moccasin Lake, Winston, Douglas County, Georgia, USA
August 23, 2008
Size: about 6 mm
Tiny black beetle with orange colored thorax, Antennae, comb-like and approximately 3/4 length of entire body. At times the beetle actually seemed to be tripping over his own antennae. ID on this beetle would be much appreciated. This is the second one of these I have seen tonight. Attracted to lights.

moved, I agree with Eric's ID

Net-winged beetle?
Pretty sure this is a net-winged beetle, family Lycidae. Neither soldier beetles nor fireflies have the sculptured elytra (wing covers) as far as I know.
