Robber Fly - Diogmites basalis

Robber Fly - Diogmites basalis
Dubuque State Forest, Massachusetts, USA
August 22, 2008
Apparently Diogmites, but not as red as the one I shot a couple weeks ago further east.

Location is approximately on the Franklin-Hampshire county line and within 2 miles of the Franklin-Hampshire-Berkshire County triple point.

Impressive
Abdominal coloration. Only two Diogmites in MA. So must still be D. basalis.
