The two stripes of hair are characteristic for this species. It is a female of Eristalis tenax. Nice close up!

In 90% of the Syrphids (and many other flies) the male eyes meet on top of the head (it is called holoptic) ehilr the females have separated eyes (dichoptic). Check out the other pics and you will see it without a problem...
