Shy Cosmet? First in BC

Shy Cosmet? First in BC
Delta, British Columbia, Canada
August 19, 2008
Size: about 1 cm.
I found the larvae of this moth in a cattail head in April of this year, and contained the heads and fluff in 3 separate locations. Last week, I examined the containers, and found 4 of these moths, 2 alive, the other 2 dead.

I think they may be Shy Cosmet. If so, they have not been documented before in BC, as far as I can find out.

I have two blog posts describing the circumstances, http://wanderinweeta.blogspot.com/2008/08/pure-gold.html with the moths, and http://wanderinweeta.blogspot.com/2008/04/blanket-on-stick.html with the larvae.
