Pale Ant? - Lasius

Pale Ant? - Lasius
Brighton, Northumberland, Ontario, Canada
August 24, 2008
Size: 1/4 inch +
This ant spent most of the afternoon excavating a hole in the garden. It is paler than most of the other ants I have seen around. Would like some help with ID please

Pale Ant? - Lasius Pale Ant? - Lasius

Lasius sp. (cf. Lasius neoniger) -female
See recent post by Lynette of a colony of the same species swarming. This seems to be the season throughout North-America.
This wannabe young queen has now mated and shed off her wings. The hole she's excavating is her new nest.

Lasius sp.
Thanks for your help Richard.
