Lubber Grasshopper - Romalea microptera - female

Lubber Grasshopper - Romalea microptera - Female
Jean Lafitte National Park, Orleans Parish, Louisiana, USA
August 8, 2005
Size: ~75mm
I can't tell the gender.

Moved

Romalea microptera
Looks like there is some added cargo toward the rear, making her look rather odd back there, but she's a female.

Locals call these Devil's Hor
Locals call these Devil's Horsemen, and this photo was snapped at one of the best areas for observation. They litter the paths certain times of year and I've never observed one in flight.
The 'added baggage' might be explained as cannibalism, which is a common sight late Aug/early Sept.
