Size estimate would help -
We're guessing this guy was fairly large and so will suggest Arhopalus foveicollis, while you wait a firm ID from one of the Coleopterists.

Our lucky day as I just happened to have collected it after shooting it. It's 20mm long from head to tail. Hopefully, that can help. Thanks for the ID, so far.

Check first
if the eyes are hairy or not, if they are not, then A. foveicollis is correct

Guy -

I just posted a close-up image of it's eyes. I've been out of town, or it would have gone up earlier. Thanks for the ID.

Probably a safe call
thats the common species here in ND. close examination of things like antennal segment size is required for other possibilities, but definitely in the right genus, with some poking I may be able to staple a for sure species on it.

Tough call..
As far as I know there are alot of similar species, some that can only be I.D.ed by dissection. I do not know much about these though.
