Size estimate would help -
We're guessing this guy was fairly large and so will suggest Arhopalus foveicollis, while you wait a firm ID from one of the Coleopterists.

Check first
if the eyes are hairy or not, if they are not, then
A. foveicollis
is correct

Probably a safe call
thats the common species here in ND. close examination of things like antennal segment size is required for other possibilities, but definitely in the right genus, with some poking I may be able to staple a for sure species on it.

Tough call..
As far as I know there are alot of similar species, some that can only be I.D.ed by dissection. I do not know much about these though.
