Gryllus pennsylvanicus? - Gryllus

Gryllus pennsylvanicus? - Gryllus
near Choke Canyon, Texas, USA
July 4, 2007
Size: ~1/2"
During the flooding in Texas, the Crickets near this pit stop (7/11 like market) had to seek shelter to escape the water. They covered the parking lot & there were thousands (pos just hundreds) crammed in that light post. A lot of the surrounding area was fields, plus the interstate highway.

Awsome!!
I would love to have witnessed this!!! A natural conversion of crickets... now thats cool!

Maybe Gryllus
but I don't know if it's pennsylvanicus. You may want to add another image of a close up view to show the detail of the crickets (they all look like females?) You can browse images and range maps here.

Yeah your right!
When I looked closer & cropped one of my other photos I saw that it looks like all or almost all are female. Weird. Well, it looks like G. fimus, texensis, & sigillatus seem to be in that area. BTW, thanks for the link, it has some great range maps.
