Barking Beetle - Polyphylla

Size: 20 mm
This lined beetle is one of my favorites. It's not only cool looking but it has personality. When I move for a better shot, it "barks." I was thinking it was a Polyphylla hammondi but bugguide images indicate P. decemlineata. Expert opinion, please.
