Burnt Orange/Brown Moth - Anisota virginiensis

Burnt Orange/Brown Moth - Anisota virginiensis
Live Oak, Suwannee County, Florida, USA
July 14, 2008
Size: 1.92mb
This moth was found under my porch light. It's behavior was very mellow and didn't seem to mind riding on my fingers. It's coloring is a burnt orange which was dulled a bit by the camera. It's approx. 1.5 inches long and 2 inches at it's widest.

Look in Genus Anisota
Beautiful moth! Please look in Genus Anisota. Hopefully someone will name to species.

Anisota
I'd say A. virginiensis since it's the only species in your area with a complete lack of black spots.
