Carpenter Bee? - Xylocopa

DeSoto, Dallas County, Texas, USA

These have been on and off visitors to my garden throughout July and August. I've given up on getting a clear picture--they are truly "busy as bees." The only remarkable thing I see about them is the three white tufts on the last abdominal segments.
