Size: ~4mm.
Came to my black light last night. (live oak/chaparral habitat).

Gloridonus (Laterana)
There are several species like this, and all feed on manzanitas (Arctostaphylos shrubs). Some are entirely this color, some have males this color but females that are entirely brown with pale spots all over, and still others have both sexes brown with pale spots. You would need to keep specimens for expert examination to differentiate the species.

Thank you Dr. Hamilton
for the ID. Indeed, we have several bushes of Arctostaphylos tomentosa crustacea on our property, some just a few yards from where I set up the black light. If you are interested in looking at them, I can certainly retain specimens next time I see this species.

Ballana (Laterana)
Yes, please watch for others; and see if you can spot any brown females. Specimens would be helpful, especially since you could also provide an identified host.

P.S. The subgenus is presently in Ballana; I am preparing a revision which will put it in Gloridonus. Sorry about being precipitate!
