I think. Note the finely reticulated pattern on the elytra, and the edge bent as to form a well-marked edge. The latter character is shared with M. cancellata, but not with the more closely related M. punctata.
Glad you've given a size estimate. Plant species would also be interesting. They should still be around, would be great to see more photos.
I'll give you an update shortly, after looking at the specimen collection at UC Riverside. So please wait for now with moving this.
Yes, clearly M. vittata by the above mentioned characters, location, & specimens examined this morning at UC Riverside.
