Black and White Flower Fly - Melangyna

Black and White Flower Fly - Melangyna
Sitka County, Alaska, USA
It seems like this must be a flower fly (Syrphidae), but I'm hoping to do a little better than that, if possible. I am uncertain, but think the size is about 1cm, or so. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Yes, a syrphid.
You're posting some nice ones, Matt, but unfortunately they're not familiar to me.

Hey Ron
I think I remember seeing patterns similar to this in Eupeodes.

Good call, as always, Jon. Similar, but I don't see a match.
These stripes are almost dead white, as opposed as "towards ivory", not curved, and spaced a bit wider apart than the norm. Might well be a species we haven't seen posted - yet.
