We have these all summer long, and we just wondered what they are.

Cucumber Beetle?
None of the ones I've ever seen have well defined stripes like the cucumber beetle, they all look like this.

 
I´m confused...
can you get some more shots, closer by...also check Diabrotica vergifera in the guide. looks like yours has the impressed rows on the elytra typical for Acalymma though

Striped Cucumber Beetle
these beetles are the striped cucumber beetles. You can find them in the guide here. This specimen is a bit unusual in that it is darkened in the middle.
