Perhaps a wasp?

Perhaps a wasp?
Elkton, Douglas County, Oregon, USA
July 16, 2008
Size: no more than 1/2 inch
Anyone's guess would be as good as mine, but an actual ID would be even better.

To me, this bug has the head/eyes of some wasps I've seen. It also had a fairly long, yellow abdomen with dark stripes.

Sorry for the poor image quality, but whatever it is, it stayed around for just the one quick shot. Hope it's at least good enough for a partial ID.

Moved
Moved from Common Sawflies.

Tenthredinidae
Nematinae

Unfortunately just another guess!
but we have some reasonably similar images posted to the guide in the Sawflies, such as . You can click on the image and look around in that area by clicking the Images tab.
