Paratiphia?

Paratiphia?
Lake Roosevelt, Ferry County, Washington, USA
August 22, 2008
Size: ~13mm
At first I took this to be a male tiphiid because the constricted base of the abdomen reminded me of male scoliids I'd seen in the locale...but looking at a mating pair (uploaded earlier) this appears to be a larger female of a sexually dimorphic species. Paratiphia maybe?

Paratiphia? Paratiphia?

Tiphiinae at any rate.
There 'are' Tiphia up there as well, so I'm leaving this at no narrower than the subfamily level for now.

Thanks Eric,
Any tips on what characters distinguish Tiphia from Paratiphia? FYI - a B.C. aculeate wasp survey in the same/similar zone (just to the north) lists Tiphia anguis, T. fortistriolata, T. nevadana, T. tegulina, Paratiphia claripennis, P. nevadensis, P. robusta.
