Merodon equestris
Hello Tom,
This is a female of Merodon equestris, a bee like syrphid that originates from Europe. There are several color variations known in this species! There are already a few pictures of this species in the guide.
Greetings,
Gerard Pennards

Color variations
I thought it might be something else, but now I know about the variations. Thanks again Gerard.
