I've looked through quite a few of the photos here and can't seem to find a match.

I photographed it after 11 pm on one of our screen doors.

Didn't see
the second photo until after I commented. I've linked them together.

Catocala relicta
would be my suspicion. The hind wing coloration helps too (should have been basically black and white striped if this is the correct species).

Do the white spots seen on White Underwing submitted by Libby & Rick Avis
differentiate the sexes?

 
individual variation
I may be wrong, but I think it's just individual variation, and has nothing to do with gender. Most Underwings (in fact most moths) are highly variable in coloration (within the limits of each species).
