Mutillid - Pseudomethoca frigida - female

Mutillid - Pseudomethoca frigida - Female
Pulaski County, Kentucky, USA

Size: 6 -7 mm
I found this small mutillid running across a woodland trail. The smallest velvet ant I have encountered thus far. I don't know how well it shows up, but there is a definite carina along the hind margin of the head. It starts a good ways behind the eyes, goes along the rear margin of the head, and ends as a projection/tooth at the bottom of the head.

These are horrible pictures but hopefully an ID can be made. Looks similar to Pseudomethoca frigida in the guide.
