I nearly walked face-first into the large, messy-looking web full of tiny spiderlings in a bush at the edge of a creek in the woods, then noticed this big beauty right next to it.

Dolomedes vittatus
Yes, you are correct that it's a Fishing Spider. Specifically, this is an adult female Dolomedes vittatus.
