Unknown. Please help - Nicrophorus orbicollis
Proctorsville, Vt USA, Vermont, USA
July 25, 2008
Size: 1/2"
This was in my sink. you see the size against a plastic utensil, and the silver drain. I have no idea what this is. I am a landscaper and have never seen this in 15 years, I am thinking it is the larve before the beetle wings form,... but I am really guessing. Please help.

Thanks
Thanks for your time to answer! The mystery is solved! So neat.... I thought by now I had seen most bugs!

You got yourself a sexton beetle
Please see Nicrophorus. Sexton is from Latin for sacred - like old-time church employees, they bury the dead.

Species
is Nicrophorus orbicollis
