The cicada pictured is a very typical example of the "swamp cicada", Tibicen tibicen (=T. chloromera) seen throughout much of the Southeast. This particular typlogy is characteristic of the more inland areas and higher elevations (i.e. the Upper Coastal Plain/Fall-line Hills, Piedmont Plateau, Cumberland Plateau, and Appalachia).
