Moved from Sphinx Moths. The cocoons belong to a braconid, Cotesia congregata (or a closely related species that has yet to be split from the species that parasitizes Manduca).

Ceratomia undulosa

This is a Waved Sphinx - feeding on ash with a black spotted rather squarish anal plate. These are the most common ash feeders here in Massachusetts.
