Strange Bug by pool

Size: 3 - 4 inches
We found this bug on a rock wall. It would sit still for a while then move very slowly on small short legs. After a day it moved to a potted plant, then we lost it a day later. Should have saved it! Can you identify it?

Looks like a Bagworm Moth larva...
