Stilt bug -- Berytidae

Stilt bug -- Berytidae
Brazelier Island, Orleans Parish, Louisiana, USA
August 26, 2008
Size: ~10mm
Berytidae. I think the genus is probably Jalysus, but I can't tell definitively from the photo. My ID reference is How to know the true bugs, Slater & Baranowski, 1978.

Stilt bug.
"Thread-legged bugs" are in the assassin bug family Reduviidae.

Good catch.
I was thrown, since the introductory paragraph for Berytidae in my true bug book refers to their "thread-legged appearance". More fuel for the fire of my frustration with common names.
