Yellow bee/wasp face - Cerceris rufopicta - female

Yellow bee/wasp face - Cerceris rufopicta - Female
Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee, USA
July 2, 2008
Size: hole is 4 mm across
Peeking out of a hole in the ground. Not necessarily the same individual, but apparently the same species, as this one:

Cerceris rufopicta, female (TN)
The clypeal process of the female of this species is highly characteristic. Different subfamily than Crabro.

Thanks
That's reassuring; I couldn't find any Crabro images with a yellow face like this, and also it seemed that a Crabro should have its antennae arising lower on the face than this.

Moved
Moved from Crabro.
