Size: quarter sized minus legs
not sure what the spider is in the top of the photo either. both were on the side of the garbage cans. we live in an open field with working farm fields around us. few trees or shrubs near us. pretty scary looking guy. i was afraid to get to close. not sure its a male or female.

Yes, quite possibly a male and female
of a species of Orb Weaver, but very difficult to say whether they are both the same species or which species that is with a ventral view. They are harmless, but a dorsal view would be needed to tell you more.
