Wasp on Sedum - Zethus spinipes - female

Wasp on Sedum - Zethus spinipes - Female
Woodstock, Shenandoah County, Virginia, USA
September 7, 2008
Size: 3/4 inch?
I'm just venturing into macro photography and bugs. This wasp? was on a sedum flower. I've looked but can't find an ID. Can you help?

As I focused on what I thought was an all black insect with one yellow band, one of the wings flashed blue as it turned. I thought I imagined is was something my camera was telling me but some of the images I took showed the blue.

Nice image.
Nice image of this species, thank you for sharing your work here at Bugguide.

Zethus spinipes, female (VA)
Blue reflections are common on dark-winged Vespidae.
