Deer louse fly?

Deer louse fly?
Quabbin Reservoir, Ware, Massachusetts, USA
September 9, 2008
This landed on my arm today as I was doing fieldwork in a forested wetland. I've seen these a few times before; they remind me of the hippoboscid flies I've seen on songbirds I've banded. Following that lead, I looked in the Guide and found this deer louse fly, which looks like a close match. The deer density is very high where I was today, so if these are specific to deer that would make sense.

Lipopteninae
Great picture and good find!
